GTA 5 Quantitative Research Analysis

Overall, from this survey, I have learnt that there a quite of few people who spend a lot of money of games a month. I have also learnt that the majority of people really liked to play GTA 5, as did I, but I expected a lot of people to dislike it too.

GTA 5 Qualitative Research Analysis

From this survey, I have learnt that a lot of people would like to see more wildlife on GTA 5 and online. I would also like to see this, but I previously thought that people would prefer another improvement. Also, most people seemed to like travelling in GTA 5 whereas I thought people would only like the gun-play and online. Finally, I have also learnt that the majority of people preferred Trevor as a character whereas I thought most people would prefer Michael.

Task 2 - Applying Research Techniques

Grand Theft Auto 5 Survey

Quantitative

Here is the survey I created on survey monkey as well as the direct link to it. I began by asking a direct question of whether or not they have played GTA 5. This question would be important as we can then define two profiles - A profile with and audience that have played the game and on that has not. We can then look into more depth at the people who have played GTA 5. The next question sets apart two big profiles too by asking whether they are male or female. We could use his data to see how many males and females have bought the game and eventually what they thought of it.

We then asked what their age was and from this information, we could discover which age ranges play the game the most and take steps to make it more appealing to them or even others.

We also asked what their field of work so we could determine whether there are any specific demographic groups that play GTA 5.

For question 5, we wanted to determine how much people spend on games within a month. Here we could see whether or not the majority of the audience spend a lot of money on games or whether they spend very little. I would be able to know that the more they spend, the more games they buy so I could find out how much people are willing to spend on video games and see if GTA 5 may be too expensive.

The next two questions determine where the people live and their ethnicity. We asked these two questions to try to find out where the majority of people in Britain live who have bought GTA 5, and we could also determine whether a specific ethnicity buy the game more than others. If a certain ethnic group bought GTA a lot more than other groups, we could try to make GTA 5 much more appealing to the other groups to ensure a wide variety of people play the game.

The next question determines what kind of gamers the audience are. Combined with the other questions above, we could determine that, for example, hardcore gamers spend more money on video games than casual gamers. This question would be also used to see whether hardcore gamers, casual gamers or dedicated gamers etc. have bought GTA 5 and we could pool together the results to see which group has bought GTA 5 the most.

The next two questions were asked to get a short opinion on GTA 5 and to ask if GTA 5 was the first game they have bought. We asked in GTA 5 was the audiences first game as we could find out how successful GTA 5 was at attracting specific people. For example, if we found one person in our survey that had never bought a game before and belonged to a certain age range  that was smaller than others, we could see how effective GTA 5 was by asking this question and if they say yes, we will know that GTA 5 has attracted a wider audience. The opinion question was asked to discover a number of basic opinions on the game and from here we could see whether the majority of people who have played GTA 5 liked it or whether the very much disliked it.

Qualitative research

1. Have you ever played GTA 5?
This question was asked to get a statistic of how many people have played GTA 5. Here we would be able to see who has played GTA 5 and further on in the survey, get their opinions on it.

2. What is your gender?
With this question, we could discover how man males and how many females have taken this survey. As well as this, and most importantly, we can find out how many of each gender have played GTA 5 as well as their opinions on the game and discover whether males disliked the game more that females for example.

3. Do you like the overall style and look of the game? Why is this?
The third questions has been asked to get an understanding of what the audience feels about the graphical quality of the game. In many cases, if the graphics are awful, many people turn themselves away from the game as they do not like looking at it, so I believe this question is important.

4. Which areas of the game-play do you enjoy the most and why?
With this question, we an see what specific things were most attractive to people in the game and see what they enjoy doing most. We could also determine why they bought the game as usually people by games depending on what they can do inside them.

5. Who is your favorite protagonist and why?
I have asked this question to determine whether or not people like the main characters. GTA 5 was unique as it offered 3 main characters to play as in an expansive world with their own unique personalities and missions. Usually in games like this, there would be only one character and people may not like him if he is not customizable  and has a bad personality. Having 3 characters draws more attention as I believe they attract more attention to the game from different audiences.

6. What areas in the game did you like least and why?
This questions was asked to discover what people think is wrong with the game. From this information, we could establish what needs to be done to improve the game as well as helping us with future decisions.
